So last night we were going to have a dinner that is pre-programmed into our Ninja Auto IQ – it is one that we have the recipe for in the book it came with. Problem was that I realized I had forgot an ingredient at the store and didn’t feel like going back out. Oh well, let’s just make up our own recipe 😏 so that is what we did. We changed it quite a bit. Both ways are delicious!
And so the Italian Chicken and Pasta came about. I am trying to get it down in the Instant Pot (and I think I almost have it.) I am sure it can be done in a slow cooker as well, but I am not sure of the times with the pasta. When I post the Instant Pot version, I will include it here as well.
The Italian chicken and pasta can also be cooked on the stove. I am not definite of the times and you need to cook it covered with a lid that has a vent hole. The Ninja pretty much cooks this like it’s on the stove top but it adjusts temperatures on it’s own.

I finally perfected this in the Instant Pot and here it is – Instant Pot Italian Chicken and Pasta.
Making the Italian Chicken and Pasta
This is a bit different in the Ninja for those who are new to it. By different, I mean amazingly simple! You will love this thing.
You want to chop your vegetables and garlic. Place them into the Ninja Auto IQ. Next cube the chicken and add it to the top of the vegetables, tho it isn’t a big deal if you put the chicken in first.
Add in the pasta and chicken broth, stirring to combine. Next add the Italian seasoning, ricotta and mozzarella cheeses. Mix well and cover. Turn the Ninja on and select Quick Meals. Turn the dial to 13 and hit start. In 30 minutes you will have a delicious dinner!
As a Note:
I do not usually add salt to many recipes and we used tomatoes with no salt added. We prefer to add it at the table if we want it. You may find that you want to add a little salt.
Italian Chicken and Pasta
- 1.5 lbs chicken breast cubed
- 1 red pepper chopped
- 1 green pepper chopped
- 1 medium yellow onion chopped
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 4 cups chicken broth low sodium
- 16 ounces elbow noodles uncooked
- 14.5 ounces can diced tomatoes with garlic basil and oregano
- 15 ounces ricotta
- 2 cups mozzarella
- 2 tsp Italian seasoning
- Mix all ingredients in the cooker and stir well to combine. Put the lid on it. Turn the Ninja on and select Quick Meals number 13 and start. In 30 minutes you will have dinner ready!
This is the multi cooker I used for this. It is very easy to use!
